1. Textile Chips (Polyester Chips)

  • PET chips used to produce polyester fibers and yarns.

  • These chips are melted and spun into fibers for the textile industry.

  • Common uses:

    • Clothing fabrics

    • Carpets

    • Industrial yarn

    • Home textiles (curtains, upholstery)

Key feature: optimized viscosity and purity for fiber spinning.

2. Film Chips

  • PET chips designed for producing thin plastic films.

  • Used in biaxially oriented PET film (BOPET) production.

Applications:

  • Packaging film

  • Electrical insulation film

  • Magnetic tape film

  • Capacitor film

  • Flexible packaging

Key feature: good clarity, strength, and dimensional stability.

3. PET Resin

  • General term for polyethylene terephthalate raw material in pellet/chip form.

  • Often used for bottle production or injection molding.

Common uses:

  • Water bottles

  • Soft drink bottles

  • Food containers

  • Cosmetic packaging

Key feature: food-grade quality and high strength.

4.Bottle Grade PET Chips

Bottle grade chips are a type of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin specifically designed for manufacturing plastic bottles and containers through injection molding and stretch blow molding processes.

Production Process

  1. PET chips are melted and injection-molded into preforms.

  2. The preforms are then reheated and stretch blow molded to form bottles.

Common Applications

  • Drinking water bottles

  • Carbonated soft drink bottles

  • Edible oil bottles

  • Juice bottles

  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetic containers

Key Features

  • High intrinsic viscosity (IV) for strength and durability

  • Excellent clarity and transparency

  • Food-grade safety suitable for beverages and food packaging

  • Good gas barrier properties (especially for CO₂ in soft drinks)

  • Lightweight but strong

Typical IV Range

  • Bottle grade PET: 0.72 – 0.84 dl/g
(varies depending on bottle type and manufacturer)

Common Bottle Types Produced

  • Water bottles

  • CSD (carbonated soft drink) bottles

  • Hot-fill beverage bottles

  • Oil bottles

5.Staple Fiber (Polyester Staple Fiber – PSF)

Staple fiber refers to short fibers produced from materials like polyester, cotton, or viscose. In the PET industry, it usually means Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) made from polyester chips (PET).

Unlike continuous filament yarn, staple fibers are cut into short lengths similar to natural fibers like cotton.

Production Process

  1. PET textile chips are melted.

  2. The melted polymer is spun into continuous filaments.

  3. The filaments are crimped and cut into short fibers (staple length).

Typical Fiber Length

  • Usually 32 mm – 102 mm depending on the application.

Types of Polyester Staple Fiber

1. Solid Staple Fiber

  • Regular polyester fiber

  • Used in textiles and yarn spinning

2. Hollow Staple Fiber

  • Fiber with a hollow structure

  • Used for insulation and filling materials

3. Conjugated Fiber

  • Two polymers combined

  • Used in pillows, quilts, and cushions

4. Recycled Staple Fiber

  • Made from recycled PET bottles
